RDU/CMH 3rd Day!
Three legs back to Oaktown today! First flight was a quick and easy one from Columbus to Chicago. We were delayed leaving Chicago by 30 minutes because of weather. : ( The second one to Kansas City we had to stay seated the whole time because it was so bumpy. I was B on this trip so I sat in the back where it is the most turbulent and wow.. It was like a free roller coaster ride. : ) The third leg was to Oakland, yay, and although it was 3 1/2 hours long, it seemed to go buy a lot faster. This was probably because the passengers kept hitting their call light buttons every few minutes which I don't mind at all. : ) So we left 30 minutes late and had a head wind so we ended up in Oakland 35 minutes late. The next flight home to Spokane was threw Seattle and I barely made it on, there were only 5 empty seats before they released it to nonrevs and there were 7 nonrevs! Another flight attendant commuting home and I sat next to this lady with a toddler and the child had complete control over the woman and she gave sass to the working flight attendants. Rude much, I think so. : ) We get to Seattle and thankfully she gets off. It's kind of annoying when passengers think that the flight attendants are there to be your childs nanny.. Next stop is Spokane! So we're taxing out to the runway and we get cleared for departure. We're going fast, almost at V1 which is the point of no return.. Meaning once you hit that speed you cannot stop and all of a sudden we brake and not just a little brake, we brake hard and fast. My first thought is oh my God, we're going to crash. I look at the other flight attendant I'm commuting with and I know she's thinking the same thing. We both assume the brace position and are ready for impact. All of the emergency evactuation training that I have learned is now flowing through my brain. I'm thinking of which exits to use, how to get to them the quickest, where are the people with the children, which flight attendants will need the most help, if we are going to hit something from the front then I need to run to the back and help out there.. The commands run through my mind, Heads down stay down, Come this way this way out leave everything cross your arms jump, cover your nose and mouth get below the smoke.. Etc, etc.. And in the 10 seconds it take for me to think of all of this the plan comes jerking to a halt.. No crash. : ) Thank you God! The captain comes on the PA and lets us know that someone in a construction truck drove across the runway... Wow. Way to be Mr. Construction Man, way to be. Before this I was ready to take a nap on the flight to Spokane and now my adrenaline is rushing and there is NO way I can fall asleep. : ) What a great commute home.

RDU-CMH Day 2!
Super easy day. First flight to Philly had 35 people on it and we pushed 5 early.. Got to the gate in Philly 20 minutes early.. Then pushed 5 early to Columbus with 55 passengers and got there 10 minutes early. What an easy day! Everyone was nice and after we made sure none of the passengers wanted anything else I started reading this book I found on the plane.. It's kind of weird, but now that I've started I have to finish it. Got to Columbus at 11:30am so I decided to wander around. There was nothing near the hotel but a movie theater so I watched Star Trek finally, and I loved it!! Then I ended up walking a mile to the riverfront park. Talk about a relaxing day. I haven't decided if I am going home to Spokane tomorrow or going to pick up another trip.. But since I don't have a crash pad this month I'd end up paying $90 for a hotel room for the two nights that I'd be staying in Oakland since FAA won't let us work more than 6 days in a row without a 24 hour break.. I think I'll just end up going home. : )

RDU/CMH Trip Day 1
I woke up at 4:30 to get ready for work today, that's way too early to be awake and moving around on a Saturday! I got a trip at 7 last night, so thankfully I didn't have to wake up to a call at 5am for this trip like Yvette did! Poor girl. She's the C today, and Felecia is our A.. I get to be B again, thankfully! It's my favorite position. Our first flight was 40 minutes long and we were only half full so it went smoothly.
AHH!! The phone in my hotel room just rang and I'm pretty sure it was scheduling calling.. So I didn't answer! Thank goodness we don't have to answer the hotel phones if we don't want to. I really don't like being called and told I get 3 hours less of sleep... And it just rang again! If they want me, they can call my cell phone!
Anyways.. Our captain for the first two legs was really nice!! Captains are normally old, perverted, nasty men.. And it was nice to have her for a change! Second leg to Chicago was completely full! And there were some really mean people on that flight.. So I killed them with kindness and in the end they were all smiles. ;) One of the guys on the flight kept trying to talk with me and then at the very end he said move to Chicago and marry me! HAHA. What a freak. Holli said ok when I asked her if it was alright.. So I guess I'm going to Chicago!... Not! We had 2 hours ground time in Chicago so I went to Potbelly's and got a Wreck.. Sooo good!! Potbelly's has such good sandwiches! I ran into Robert, a guy I graduated from training with and haven't seen since last year! It was really great seeing him and catching up. Then we had one last flight to Raleigh-Durham. It was almost full and there were about 60 kids on that flight.. It was insane! Why are they all coming to Raleigh for?? Silly kids. They were all really needy as well so the three of us served our drinks, did refills and trash, and then hid in the back! One guy fell alseep and fell into the aisle, it was kind of funny.. And some old lady got pissed when the passenger next to her accidentally hit her chairs button to lean it back and came storming to the back of the plane to ask us to do something about it. Besides being an 11 hour work day, it wasn't sooo bad.. But tomorrow is going to be so easy! SLC/JAN Trip : )
Soo.. My first blog, yay? Just so everyone knows I'm going to be writing (*cough* venting) about the trips I fly! I'm pretty excited and I think it's a great way to remember what happens while I'm working at 40,000 feet! My trip started on the 10th of June, so I'll try to remember everything that happened!
June 10th -
Started my really easy trip with Terri and Ray. It was a very easy day today. We had four legs (flights) all under an hour and a half. Oakland-Orange County-Reno-Salt Lake City.. Easy! Our 55 minute flight to Reno was completely full, which sucked! Three flight attendants vs. 137 passengers.. It's pretty intense. But other than that the day went smoothly. We overnighted in Salt Lake City tonight and I was going to meet up with Mikey and go to the Zoo, but something came up at his work so I wandered around downtown Salt Lake instead. I ended up going to the old capital building which is absolutely gorgeous from the outside.. But not so much from the inside! Lol. When I was ready to leave it was raining.. No not raining, POURING, outside!! There was thunder and lightning and I had 6 blocks to walk to the hotel. I tried to run and stay out of the rain, but it was impossible.. So I get back to the Sheraton and people are staring at me. Pfft, whatever! Headed back up to my room and had some quality bonding with Shirley Temple!! : )
Oh, I'm pretty sure Terri and Ray are more than just friends.. And Terri is married!! AHH!!!
June 11th- Today was... HORRIBLE. We flew from Salt Lake City-Houston-Jackson.. Our duty day was 7 1/2 hours and it felt like 15! It was intense. Houston to Jackson the last passenger on the plane gets on and the only empty seat was in the overwing window exit row. So he sits down we close the doors, do the demo, and take off. At 10,000 feet the last guy to get on starts taking pictures of EVERYONE and messing withe people around him. He's banging on the back of the persons seat in front of him, he grabbed the guy who was sitting next to him's headphones off of his head and starts messing with them.. He's in Terri's section so she reseats him.. To my section, yay!! Apparently he had a prosthetic leg and you cannot sit in an emergency row with one. So anyways. He's ordered a drink and I told him I wasn't going to give him the alcohol he ordered, so he may as well as pick a different drink. The passengers that were sitting by him in the exit row told Terry that apparently the Ops (operations agent, person in charge of boarding the plane) found him in the bar.. THE FREAKING BAR!! Oh my goodness.. People who appear to be intoxicated are not allowed to board an airplane.. And this guy was freaking loaded!! On top of that it looked like he had taken a little extra medication that morning. He managed to piss of half the people on the plane today! So Terri reseated him and now he's in an aisle seat. There is a woman in the middle seat next to him.. And guess what she does!? She orders a scotch&7 and SHARES IT WITH HIM. Who does that?? She shared booze with a complete stranger!!! That is wrong for so many reasons! So we take her drink away and tell her that she can't have any more to drink. Then the drunk guy starts taking more pictures. The passenger sitting at the window gets pissed when he takes his photo and I run up there to stop the guy from hitting the drunk, although it would've been awesome to watch the idiot get punched... ; ) I grabbed the guys camera and had to talk to him like he was a 5 year old to get him to listen. He still causes a ruckus for the rest of the flight and I'm pretty sure the guy at the window was about ready to strangle him to death. So I ask the guy at the window to come stand in the back. Long story short police met Mr. Drunk-dude at the plane, thank God! He was supposed to be connecting to another flight later!! So much for that! What an idiot. So the whole flight to Houston the rest of the passengers are upset and are taking it out on the flight attendants, YAY! I honestly don't remember the flight from Houston to Jackson, how sad is that? OH! The first general boarder on that flight got on and was whining and complaining about everything and then Terri was talking crap about him inside the airport as we were walking to the hotel shuttle and turns out he was right behind us!!! That's what she gets for being a cheating whore!! :D I decided Jackson has some beautiful buildings but it's way too hot for my liking.
OH! I saw Terri kiss Ray!! She's a married woman!!! Giving flight attendants a bad name, geeze..
June 12th!! -
Today we deadheaded (got paid to sit in a passengers seat and drink coffee) from Jackson to Houston then worked Houston-Albuquerque-Vegas-Oaktown. We got to Houston and the plane we were going to be working on next was supposed to be coming in at gate 45, 20 minutes later it's gate 44, then right as the plane is supposed to be arriving it is changed to gate 22. So we ran our butts to the other side of the Houston Hobby airport and hop on the plane. Turns out something is wrong with the planes engines and some engineers are working on it. It takes about 30 minutes to fix the plane, and because you can't have the plane "on/running" while working on the engine there is no air conditioning. Houston heat+no A/C=Heat Stroke! So we can't board the plane until they are completely done and ended up pushing 20 minutes late. We get to Albuquerque 15 minutes late, clean, and load 'er back up. The last two people run on, we close the door, do the demo, and take off! We have two jumpseats on the plane, one in front and one in back. There are two seats on each jumpseat and since we have three flight attendants per flight there is one empty seat which we allow any employee to sign up for and ride on for free. In order to ride on the 4th jumpseat you HAVE to be an employee. Well the Ops agent let this guy that flies with one of our Reservations people all of the time get 4th jumpseat along with the Reservations person. Uh oh, there is only one 4th jumpseat! Well there was one empty seat in the cabin so the Reservations person took it and gave the jumpseat to the passenger who did not work for us. That is a very, very big no no.. The captain can get fined $10,000 and/or lose his/her job over something like that. So Terri, Ray, and I turned in the Reservations person and now she'll (hopefully) lose her job. I sat next to that passenger thinking they worked for the company. That is so dangerous!! What if he was a creep?? I can't believe the Ops agent let that happen. Hopefully he gets into trouble as well.. The last two flights were full of screaming children, rude women, grouchy old men, and a very needy boy who drank 3 waters, 1 ginger ale, 1 Dr. Pepper, and a coke in 1 1/2 hours!!! Crazy boy. To top it all off my pen exploded in my pocket and now my shorts have a hug ink spot on them.. Yay!! The last fligh from Las Vegas to Oakland was so bumpy we had to secure out galleys and take a seat for 20 minutes. Then we're about to touchdown in Oakland and all of a sudden the plane pulls up.. Oh Em Gee.. Talk about giving all the passnegers a freak out.. Turns out something was wrong with our landing gear so we cirlced for 15 minutes while the pilots figured it out and then landed.. Thank you Jesus for protecting me! That was the first time I've ever been scared on a plane.
Tomorrow morning I start a three day block of AM reserve... There's a pretty sweet trip in open time with a 21 hour overnight in Tucson, AZ.. Maybe I'll get it!
This one was pretty long.. I promise the rest won't be this long (I hope.)
